Why Madrid is the next capital of sustainable fashion

Five editions of the Sustainable Fashion Week in Barcelona taught us something fundamental: sustainable fashion is no longer a trend — it's infrastructure. And Madrid is ready to lead it.

From promise to industry

For years, sustainability in fashion was communicated as aspiration. Today it's a business requirement: European textile traceability regulation, the demands of international buyers, and an increasingly informed consumer have turned responsible production into the new competitive baseline.

The five editions held in Barcelona proved there is a critical mass of designers, brands and buyers ready to build that industry. The natural next step was a capital with institutional and international reach: Madrid.

What Madrid brings

Madrid concentrates corporate headquarters, public institutions, national media, fashion schools and direct air connectivity with Latin America and Europe. For a platform whose purpose is to connect design, business and institutions, it is the ideal stage.

The first edition of Madrid Sustainable Fashion Week will take place on October 5, 2026 at Teatro Amaya, with a main runway, a professional showroom, and a business gathering for brands, sponsors and buyers.

A network of cities

Madrid is not a destination — it's a node. The Sustainable Fashion Weeks® ecosystem is planning editions in Paris and Miami, building an international network where each city contributes its own industry, talent and audience.

Fashion's sustainable transition isn't announced. It's organised. And that is exactly what we do.
